Is the NASB Poisonous?

As stated previously, I use a KJV. Even preferring that bible over others, I would NEVER call another version of God's Word a perversion. That is blasphemy because they all contain the Words of God.

BTW, the current KJV differs in MANY points from the 1611...So which one is perfect? Using your logic, how can YOU know you are using the right one?

There are no doctrinal differences in translation between the NASB and the KJV. They are both able to make one wise unto salvation and gain a better knowledge of the Lord.

Please retract your statement that the NASB is a perversion.

Me:

I agree that a person can get the doctrine of Salvation and other basic doctrines from different Bible versions, but if that's all you are interested in you don't need a Bible. A Gospel tract has the doctrine of Salvation, Repentance (I hope), Sanctification, etc. God gave us more than a simple Gospel tract because there are a lot of finer points to the Bible He wants us to understand. Many of them are lost in the Greek manuscripts from which the modern versions are translated, because they were altered by men like Wescott & Hort. How do I know which one is the right one? I use the one which was translated from the manuscript with a clean history of preservation (the Textus Receptus), and trust God that when He promised me in Psalms 12:6-7 that He would preserve His Word forever, He was telling the truth.

Ps 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

I don't have to fill a glass with poison to kill someone, I just have to add one drop to the pure water and it becomes corrupt. This is the Devil's strategy because he knows Christians would smell a glass full of poison, but will be fooled by just a drop.

That last point you made about poison in a glass was really good. I agree with you. Your rebuttal was very well thought out. Thanks for taking a stand.

My question is about pay per post. I see you do it too. I am beginning to think they are one big scam because I'm "not eligible" for everything except about five opportunities, and also they want me to put a specific link in the post to get paid but the link doesn't work etc. Have you ever been paid or have you just been messed around too?

Oh I don't know if you know of these colleges, so I'll add more in case you are interested in putting them in your sidebar. You don't need to publish this comment if you don't want to. Just check out the colleges. They are very much KJB only.

Crown College of Powell, TN - http://www.thecrowncollege.com/

Heartland Baptist Bible College http://www.heartlandbaptist.edu/

Pensacola Bible Institute doesn't have an actual website for the school, but it would be our first choice for our son. http://www.kjv1611.org/

Treasure Valley Bible Institute would be our second choice for our son. http://tvbc.org/bible.htm

Hope that helps.

Theresa, thanks for the comment! I like having fun with those guys because they get so mad, however occasionally I hope to be able to make some sense and get them thinking.

Katy-Anne,

PayPerPost isn't a scam, however there are a few criteria they look for and those are what determine what you qualify for. They look at your Google page rank and your Alexa rating, which both have to do with the number of external sites that link to yours as well as your daily traffic. Also, some of the higher paying posts specify that you have to have your own domain (not blogspot.com, xanga.com, wordpress.com, etc). You can get your own domain for $7 - $10 per year and point your blog to it. I did this with my spare change blog and it's rather seamless. The general theme of the blog also plays a role in what you qualify for. The highest paying post I've written was $20. It takes like two months for the post to get approved and for them to put the money in your Paypal account, so if you do this you'll have to be patient.

Also, thanks for the tip on the colleges. I haven't been very discriminating with the ones I've put on the link list because I don't know that much about them except for rumors, etc. In fact, I think Hyles and Fairhaven are totally opposed and even compete with bus routes, etc. I'll check out your recommendations!

That's the most retarded video I've ever seen. But it went well with what you wrote about. Keep on keepin' on!

Thanks. I don't deny being retarded, however I can't claim the video as being original. I was imitating Jim Varney in "Ernest Goes to Jail". I saw that in my younger, dumber days.

You assume the KJV doesn't contain "poisonous" error. Now to start with, I don't think it is poison, but you think in terms of poison, so here we go.

Doctrinal "Poison":

The Holy Spirit is referred to as "itself", making Him to be a "force" denying his Divine Personhood. Rom 8:16

We are told that those who "do His commandments" have the right to eat of the tree of life, which is works salvation. Rev 22:14

"By the Holy Spirit" is omitted, which denies the role of the Holy Spirit in the inspiration of Gods word. Acts 4:25

In John 1:18 the newer versions are clear that Christ and God are one. The KJV obscures this fact.

In I John 3:9 the KJV tells us that saved people will not sin. Newer versions translate it more faithfully to let us know that Christians won't make a practice of it. (NIV- "continue to sin", NASB- "practices sin")

In Acts 5:30 and 10:39 the KJV breaks OT prophecy by suggesting Jesus was dead before he hung on the cross.

The "Poison" of Error:

Psa 74:8 speaks of "synagogues" almost 600 years before there were any synagogues. All major modern versions in use today avoid this error.

I Chr 5:26 identifies two different people in the KJV- "Pul" and "Tilgathpilneser". In fact, these were the same person. All major modern versions in use today avoid this error.

I did not set out to create a comprehensive list and this is not one. You can't respond to this by saying the newer versions leave out more stuff; even if it were true it doesn't refute the demonstrated fact that your KJV has errors as well. If a perfect English translation is what you want, it doesn't exist.
