NVBC Youth Conference

Yesterday we returned from four days at North Valley Baptist Church's annual Youth Conference. What an INCREDIBLE time! We heard preaching from Jeremy Kobernat, Tony Hutson, and Mark Swanson. There was also special music provided by the Victorious Valley Homes, the Voices of Praise, and Tony Hutson's daughters. I have to say that this conference was a huge inspiration for not only the teenagers that went with us, but for myself and the other workers also. I was greatly encouraged to live for the Lord 24/7 and serve him whenever, wherever, and forever.

Jeremy Kobernat preached a message on how it's time to get serious in serving God, Mark Swanson continually reminded us to stay excited and fired up for Christ, and Tony Hutson challenged us to be filled with the "HOLY Ghost". Numerous teenagers got saved and many surrendered their lives to serving God wherever and however He would have them serve. I was so impressed with how Pastor Trieber and the other staff created an environment that not only was fun and exciting, but allowed the Lord to work in the lives of countless teens. If you have not had the opportunity to take your teens to North Valley Baptist Church and experience youth conference, I encourage you to make next year your first. You will be greatful that you did!

Marriage and Purity

Last night I got the opportunity to be in the wedding of a close friend. As one of the groom's men, I had an up close view of the goings-on. Weddings are awesome because two people are making a lifetime commitment to each other, but this one was especially neat because these two have kept themselves pure for each other. It really hit me when the preacher said to the groom, "You may kiss your bride for the first time."

What better gift can one give to their future spouse than the gift of purity? I can't think of one. In a world where pre-martial sex is prevalent and blatant, with little regard for morality and consequences, it is almost inconceivable that two people would maintain their purity to the level of saving their first kiss for marriage. This couple accomplished just that, and they are one of the elite few. Endeavor to join this group, because the heartache you will avoid when you are single, and the depth of love you will experience after marriage is unmatched.

Who Needs the Church?

A Catholic Attack on the Authority of the Bible by Msgr. Richard M. McGuiness and Rev. John A. Quill printed by World Apostolate of Fatima

Biblical Response by Dr. Arthur Maricle, Pastor

First Enemy Attack - Many Protestants believe that the sole rule of faith is the Scripture. God's Word, the Bible, is enough for them, since they claim the Bible gave rise to the Church. Therefore they say the Church has no real authority to interpret the Bible. For these people, each individual Christian has a right to interpret the Bible. How do Catholics respond?

The "Scripture alone" and private interpretation doctrines originated with Martin Luther in the sixteenth century. They were unknown for over 1500 years. Before Luther, all Christians believed that the Old Testament gradually grew out of the living Tradition of the Jewish Church as taught by the patriarchs and prophets, and that the New Testament grew out of the living Tradition of the Catholic Church, as contained in the preaching of the Apostles. Before Luther, all believed that the pope and the bishops, the successors of the Apostles (says who?), had, from Christ, the authority to interpret the Scripture authentically.

Biblical Counterattack - "The Church" that these men refer to bears no resemblance to the church founded by Jesus Christ. Their "Church" was not founded by Jesus Christ, as they boldly misrepresent to the world. Their man-made religion was formed in A.D. 325 as a matter of political expediency by the hell-bound Roman emperor, Constantine. It was immediately flooded with pagans who to maintain political favor joined the emperor's new religion through baptism, without repentance and salvation (which comes only through faith in Jesus Christ -- Acts 16:30-31). Whole legions of unregenerate Roman soldiers were marched past Roman priests, who sprinkled them with "holy water" (try to find holy water in the Bible!) and proclaimed them to be Christians.

The heathen who comprised the charter members of this "Church" brought with them their old gods and goddesses. Rome merely absorbed these deities, together with many of their ungodly forms of worship (confession to a priest, human sacrifice -- preserved in Catholicism through the Mass, idols used as "aids to worship", celibacy of the priesthood, etc. and etc.), reassuring the idolatrous masses that their familiar gods and goddesses had been recast in the roles of the Father, Son, Mary, Peter and the original Apostles, the other saints, etc.

Truly it may be said of Catholicism, "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." {Titus 1:16} This is not to condemn individual Catholics, the vast majority of whom are unwitting participants in the perpetuation of history's most sinister orgainized blasphemy. while every soul is sinful and needs to be saved -- whether born into a Catholic home, an atheist home, or a Baptist home -- the poor Catholic must overcome a religious system and its attendant culture that saturate his mind with lies and superstition.

But does not Catholicism believe in and worship the same Jesus that we do? NO! "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. [Note the complexity and formality inherent in Catholicism, and you will recognize immediately that compared to "the simplicity that is in Christ", it is an anti-Christ religion.] For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." {II Cor. 11:3-4}

Catholicism claims to have not only descended from the apostles, but to be heir of apostolic succession. Seeing her anti-Biblical excesses, one may rightly inquire, "WHOSE APOSTLES?" For indeed there were false apostles deceiving first century Christians, such as there are false apostles deceiving twentieth century Christians. And they who lack the internal reality of holiness may expertly array themselves in the external trappings of holiness to further confound their followers and their potential adversaries. Am I making all this up? Is this pure conjecture on my part? Oh, no. The Holy Spirit left us the warning through the Apostle Paul (who was the Apostle to the Gentiles, not Peter -- Romans 11:13). "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." {II Cor. 11:13-15}

The "Church" promoted in this ungodly pamphlet is best described in Revelation 17. It is said there to be "the great whore that sitteth upon many waters, With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication." Her colors are purple and scarlet (the official colors of Catholicism), she is said to be "decked with gold and precious stones and pearls" (depicting Rome's incredible wealth), "having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication" (an apt illustration of the chalice used in the ultimate blasphemy of the mass), and "drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus" (no religious institution can approach Catholicism for sheer blood-thirstiness -- responsible as it is for the slaughter of millions of Bible-believing Christians andother religious/political enemies -- especially the Jews). In verse 7, she is said to sit on 7 mountains; indeed, the city of Rome sits on seven hills.

The Romanism is a spectacular institution there is no question. John himself said, "And when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration." This worldly greatness only enhances the hypnotic effect she has on her followers and world leaders.

Even an unbiased secular history of Catholicism would reveal vast inconsistencies between itself and any list of spiritual ideals. The "Church", as she calls herself, is horribly fallible, vulnerable, and sinful. In contrast to this, God has given us a Book that is perfect -- by His own testimony, not by the deluded claims of immoral religious demagogues. "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple." {Ps. 19:7}

While the church age will pass (speaking of the age of local churches instituted by God, not the bastardization of the word "church" as it is used by Catholic clerics), the Bible will stand forever. "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever." {Is. 40:8} Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away [including the Vatican and the Roman institution],but my words shall not pass away" {Matt. 24:35} "But the word of the Lord endureth forever." {I Pet. 1:25} This last reference was written by the Holy Spirit through the Apostle Peter, whom Catholics falsely accuse of being the first pope (an office which is just one of a vast array of Catholic inventions).

While Roman dictates originate from the Vatican's ecclesiastical hierarchy, which itself is a puppet of Satan, "all scripture is given by inspiration of God. and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness..." {II Tim. 3:16} "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." {II Pet. 1:21}

While Catholicism has provided the philosophical justification for multitudes of iniquities (the Inquisition, the brutalization and enslavement of the natives of the New World, the Holocaust, etc. and etc.), the Bible steers men away from sin. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." {Ps. 119:11}

While Catholicism was the cause of the Dark Ages (and it remains a truism even today that the country dominated by Rome is a backward country), the Bible brings light into the soul and society to which it is exposed. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." {Ps. 119:105} "The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple." {Ps. 119:130} "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life." {Proverbs 6:23} It is no coincidence that the Renaissance and the Reformation were parallel historical phenomena. Although the Reformers did not move far enough from the pagan practices of Rome (retaining such despicable, anti-Biblical doctrines as infant baptism), the degree to which they moved toward the Bible and away from Rome was the degree to which their societies enjoyed the benefits of the "enlightenment".

The Catholic authors we are critiquing claim that "the 'Scripture alone' and private interpretation doctrines originated with Martin Luther in the sixteenth century. They were unknown for over fifteen years." This statement is true only to the degree that "Christianity" is limited to Roman Catholicism, which murders many Biblical doctrines and then denies to its members any access to the truth. Is it any wonder that Papist would be unaware that men can read, understand, and interpret the Bible for themselves? In the first century, long before Martin Luther was conceived, God informed His people that while pastors and teachers can help us understand and apply the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit dwelling within the born-again believer is the real teacher. "But ye [common believers in Jesus Christ] have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things...But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." {1 John 2:22, 27}

If Rome is to maintain its grip on millions of souls world-wide, it must keep them dependent upon the "Church". This will explain why in societies where Catholicism was once pre-dominant, it was a capital offense (worthy of death) to be found with a Bible in one's possession. In America, the great religious chameleon must be more subtle, and distribute pamphlets that will intimidate its followers into humble submission to the political machine that calls itself a "Church".

To excuse the gross liberties Catholicism takes with the Scriptures, it must rely on "Sacred Tradition" (which is, of course, a concept utterly foreign to God's Word). As we will see in the issues to follow, almost every reference in the Bible to tradition is negative, and rightly so. Tradition, when misapplied, becomes a deadly excuse to invalidate God's clear and direct commands. And what Satan cannot imitate, he will seek to invalidate.

The Bible in MP3 Audio Format

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

I was thrilled to find that the entire Bible is in MP3 format on the internet for FREE! That's right, and if you are a Baptist, few words strike joy and euphoria to the core of your being like that four letter word...FREE. What makes it exciting for me is the amount of time I spend in my car can now be used to spend time in the Word. Until now I've been listening to preaching CD's, which is almost as good but can't replace hiding God's Word in my heart. My goal is to use this tool to aid in memorization. If you own an MP3 player, I callenge you to put aside the music you usually listen to (even if it's Godly) for a little time every day and listen to the Bible. Nothing can replace Scripture in keeping us from sin, strengthening our faith, and drawing us closer to the Lord. Now go hide God's Word in your heart.

Finally...PREACHING!!!

GOOD NEWS!!! I figured out how to upload audio files to the web, then link to them. I've added "Lead Yourself" by Dr. Jack Hyles and "A Young Fundamentalist" by Dr. Jeff Owens under their appropriate posts. Look for links to more sermons and they come up. Now that I can upload anything, I'm going to start adding more media. I'm so excited it hurts!

Sermons Coming!

Great News! Our Pastor, Dr. Arthur Maricle, has given me permission to post his sermons here! I'm really excited because I've been wanting to build an archive of good preaching for my readers, and I think there are a lot of people out there who would love to hear it. Since I don't know how to upload audio to the web (I'm sure there is a way) I'll probably just upload the videos to Google Video and embed them here like I do the video of the day. Watch out because some of his sermons are scorchers and may ruffle your feathers (only if you're a chicken though). Check back in a week or two to see if I have it up and running!

Am I Really a Young Fundamentalist?

I'm beginning to realize that I may need to change the name of this site. It seems that the term "Young Fundamentalist" is being claimed by those rebellious second generation Independent Fundamental Baptists who are going liberal on the standards and doctrine with which they were raised. Also known as fundamentally reformed, they are trying to redefine what we stand for and believe. I borrowed the name from an inspirational message preached by Dr. Jeff Owens at First Baptist Church of Hammond's Youth Conference one year. That message got me so fired up that I've always been proud to claim the title "young fundamentalist". If these idiots (who have no business even calling themselves fundamentalists at all) are going to drag that title through the mud by compromising on the King James Bible, standards of separation, etc. then we will have to redefine the name and expose them for the compromising liberals that they are. The next time you meet someone that claims the title Independent Fundamental Baptist and you find that they are nothing more than another Revelation 3:16 Christian (neither cold nor hot), tell them to do the rest of us a favor and stop calling themselves Baptists.

Soul Winning

I'm going soul winning today, and few things are quite as exciting. What other time will you have the opportunity to make an eternal difference in someones life. Don't ever get so wrapped up in the daily grind that you lose sight of why our Saviour has left us on this earth. Warn people about hell. Tell them of Jesus. Be the missionary that Christ called you to be. Only in this will you find true fulfilment in life and joy as you walk with the Lord.

Einstein's Riddle

ALBERT EINSTEIN'S RIDDLE ARE YOU IN THE TOP 2% OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE IN THE WORLD? SOLVE THE RIDDLE AND FIND OUT.

There are no tricks, just pure logic, so good luck and don't give up.

1. In a street there are five houses, painted five different colours.
2. In each house lives a person of different nationality
3. These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet.

THE QUESTION: WHO OWNS THE FISH?

HINTS
1. The Brit lives in a red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the centre house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbour who drinks water.

ALBERT EINSTEIN WROTE THIS RIDDLE EARLY DURING THE 19th CENTURY. HE SAID THAT 98% OF THE WORLD POPULATION WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SOLVE IT.

Thank God I Joined the Marines!!!

Sometimes when you are staring one of life's most challenging decisions in it's ominous face, it's easy to wonder if you are making the right move. Many times we pray fervently, if not feverishly, that God will direct our path and guide us, but in the end there is always a measure of faith that must be exercised once you have determined which way you believe God is taking you.

I made a decision like this almost eight years ago when I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Up until that point I was a home-schooled kid that hadn't been outside the circle of church and home-schooling families with whom we associated. I know there were many times my mom questioned our mutual decision that the Marines was God's will for me, but when I look back at what God did during that time, the evidence is irrefutable.
Many intangibles resulted from my time in the military such as learning to lean on God, learning to be a man, learning to stand for Christ in the face of fierce opposition; but the biggest thing that really affirms in my mind that this was God's will for my life was how God used this time to make me an Independent Fundamental Baptist. I can't thank God enough for Pastor and Mrs. Clark from West Coast Baptist Church. This is a pastor who really has a heart for the Marines and Sailors of Camp Pendleton and does everything he can to reach them. If it hadn't been for him, I don't believe my convictions, standards, spiritual strength, and faith in God would have been where they needed to be to survive the intense wickedness and vile debaucheries with with I was confronted daily. Praise God for a Pastor and Church who are determined to serve in a hard area, during hard times, and not give up. Pastor Clark, you will never know the extent of impact your ministry has on this earth, but I think you will be surprised when you find out in heaven.

Will God Bless America?

2 Chr. 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

God wants to bless America. He really does. The problem is that we don't really care whether He does or not. In the verse above, God tells us specifically what we need to do to gain His attention, forgiveness, and healing in our nation. Unfortunately I think we are so wrapped up in our current prosperity that few of us ever take the time to get on our face before almighty God and beg him to spare the nation. Life may be good now, but with the rapidly increasing sin problem that has tainted America it won't be long before God brings swift and devastating judgement. Pastor preached an awesome sermon last night and in it he read a quote by Sam Gipp explaining what God's judgement on a nation could mean. When the Israelites were judged, the righteous were not spared from the misery and destruction. Everyone suffered.

Last Sunday morning I talked to the young men in the teen class about this very subject. My text was Ezek 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. God is looking for a man who is willing to put aside his own fleshly desires and stand in the gap. Humble yourself today and pray, and seek God's face. Turn from your wicked ways and plead with God to stay His hand of destruction. Have you ever wanted to be the super-hero who saved the world? Here is your chance if you think you have what it takes...

Narrow is the Way

I found the blog of a fellow who claims to be an Independent Fundamental Baptist. Unfortunately he posted the following comments:

1. I consider myself to be a fundamentalist, I'm just not stupid about it.

2. I am an independent Baptist, I'm just not arrogant about it.

3. I am a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching preacher, I'm just not KJV-only about it. I still love and use the KJV, but I'm not silly enough to think that's the only way God preserved His Word.

4. I believe every major doctrine of the Bible, I just don't create doctrines out of thin air. What God says is sufficient for me. I don't need to add my theology to His.

If you can live with those 4 things, then we can fellowship together. If you can't, well, I'm sure glad I only have to answer to God in the end and not you.

I responded:

Dude, If God preserved His Word in other "versions" then God is very confused. You will agree that if I quoted you on my blog, but changed the wording, you would be upset and say that I was only paraphrasing and those weren't your real words. You may even accuse me of misquoting you if the meaning were altered slightly due to my choice of words (even if that was not my intent). Would you consider Acts 8:37 God's Word? Look it up in your New International Version and you will find it is missing. This would lead someone to believe that salvation comes through baptism instead of believing on Christ.

I was probably too easy on this guy, and I think it's a shame, if not a disgrace, that the ranks of those who claim our title are being infiltrated by those who's doctrine is diametrically opposed to what a true Independent Fundamental Baptist believes. Doctrines such as calvinism, wrong bible versions, and ecumenicallism (yolking up with those who are not of like faith) are tarnishing the proud label with which we identify ourselves. This is why in my first post I stated that I am an old fashioned, independent, fundamental, Bible-believing, King James Version defending, sin hatin', devil fightin', separated Baptist. Don't be the one who strays from the old paths and takes this new generation down yet another road which veers off toward the modern religions, only to be stung by the poison of worldliness. It's venom runs deep and once you are intoxicated by it, you may forever be controlled by the lust for more.

My Bible states in Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:[14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Narrow is the way. That means any small deviation will put you on the wrong path. Don't deviate, Christian. Destruction is not God's end goal for your life.

Video Removal

Due to our own personal standards and convictions, I've had to remove some of the videos which we previously displayed. YouTube decided to alter their videos so links to others which I did not choose to post were available from my blog. Since I'm not a liberal compromising twinky with a rope for a backbone who only puts his foot down when his wife gives him permission, I kicked YouTube to the curb and will not be posting their videos any longer. Sometimes you just have to take a stand, and bless God we're going to shake it off and step up (taken from an awesome message preached by Dr. Jeff Owens...I'll post it sometime). Meanwhile, I will continue to post Google videos as long as they don't try to push their wicked propaganda on you. Have fun.

Lead Yourself

I recently listened to an incredibly inspiring sermon by Dr. Jack Hyles titled "Lead Yourself." In a nutshell, Dr Hyles said before a man can lead great multitudes, he must first accomplish the most difficult task of all, and that is to lead himself. It was incredibly inspiring to me because I realize self discipline is the one thing that stands between me and accomplishing anything in the world I set my mind to. If I can master this concept of "leading myself" and making myself do the things I don't really want to do, I will become a man others will follow and want to emulate. It's a little fuzzy, but it is mostly understandable. Brace yourself, and Lead Yourself.
