Okay, David, I'm thinking that I know you.........are you married to Melody? My "home" church is West Coast Baptist as well, and if you are who I think you are, then I remember you!!! Tell her I said, "Hello"....tell her I'm Rachael's best friend...I'm sure she'll remember me!
And it's GREAT to see you still serving the Lord!

BTW--I couldn't get the video to play, so I can't comment on it. I hope it's just me.

Hey. I just wanted to apologize for getting upset about the music thing. I guess it really wasn't any of my business except that Jessica is a friend of mine. If you think the music is wrong, even though I don't understand how on earth you can because it isn't CCM it's southern gospel, the fact still remains that you ought to warn your readers against it if you think it's wrong. To do any less would be wrong on your part. I have had to do that before, I had to delete someone from my links and apologize to people because although the woman went to a good church, she didn't think very highly of modesty and posted pictures of her baby just in a diaper which the Bible defines as nakedness. I had to say something to my readers then too.

So I'm really sorry about what I said. I'm now going to go and take my post-natal depression and hormones back to my own blog. HAHA.

Thanks also for your kind response to me even when I wasn't nice. It's been rough lately and kind words were just what I needed even though I'm sure it wasn't easy for you. You have character. I like that.

God bless you David.

Hello! I notice you don't have Crown College on your list of links to great churches and colleges. I have enjoyed looking around your blog.

Pam,
It's a small world! I just told Melody about your post and she was very excited to hear it. I think she's calling Rachael...
So you guys got to get Jerusalem as a duty station? That's cool! I considered applying for security forces, but as I was only a Sergeant I would have had to leave Melody behind (not an option). Thanks for commenting!

Katy-Anne,
You are very gracious. I enjoy your blog and was hoping I wouldn't create an enemy over something so trivial, so I'm glad you aren't upset. Music, as with most things in Christianity, is so controversial. Almost everyone draws a line at what they think is okay, but almost everyone draws that line in a different spot. I haven't posted about this previously, but when I was in the Marine Corp I got pretty heavily into Country Music and eventually Heavy Metal, listening to stuff like Marilyn Manson, Ozzy Osborne, Metallica, and other abominations. I praise God that He helped me break this addiction but now, much like a recovered alcoholic, I have to stay away from anything that has a worldly sound because my flesh LOVES it and it's easy for me to jump back in to listening to wrong music again. Unfortunately, a lot of Southern Gospel sounds just like country music, so I choose to stay away from it. I'll post more of my thoughts on this at a later date. For now, thanks for your understanding.

It sure is a small world! Tell Melody I think she should start her own blog! I'd love to see pictures and hear about her life; and I'm SURE her parents would LOVE IT too!!

We were really blessed to be stationed here. There are so many bad places to go; we know the Lord had his hand in this decision.

Do you realize that in your video clip on the right side of your page there is a video of an advertisement for Saw IV? That shocked me. Surely you didn't know this. I sure wouldn't think you would condone such video clips and such movies. Just making an observation. You may not have known.

David, thanks for your kind response. I used to mess around with satanism (ugh) and listened to all sorts and to me Southern Gospel sounds MUCH different from rock or country music and so I feel that it is ok. If it even MIGHT cause you to struggle though it's a good thing to stay away from. Even if it doesn't and you just prefer to stay away from it, that is ok too. Everyone has their preferences and lol not many people agree with me...they think I'm too legalistic.

Julie,
Thanks for letting me know, I HAD NO IDEA! I definitely would NEVER promote a movie like that (or any movie for that reason) and actually preached against that very movie to my teen boys two weeks ago. Unfortunatly I've not seen the ad, but if it comes up again I will block it. If you or anyone else sees it, copy the url and send it to me so I can block it. Thanks!

Bro. David..I knew you wouldn't promote or condone such a movie. I felt I needed to bring it to your attention. I hope you don't mind that I did so. I don't even know how that clip ended up on your site....do you? Have a great day!!!

I don't know how it ended up on my site, but I sure am glad you brought it to my attention. The links you see are from Google AdSense, which actually pays me when people follow them. They are designed to follow the content of the blog, which is why they are usually for churches and bible colleges. I signed up for this because our church is going through some hard times financially and I was hoping to contribute whatever profits came in from my blog to help out. I have the ability to block specific ads, but I need the url and so far I haven't seen the one you mentioned. If it shows up again, I will certainly block it. Thanks.

Oh...okay...I see. I have only seen links and not videos there. I didn't realize you could make money doing that. How do you get started on that? Do you make anything worth speaking of? Is it something that you think I could do to make a little money? I'd be willing to if it would be worthwhile. Oh...see....now there is a photo ad where that video ad was. This one is for getting a degree online at Belhaven College. I just noticed that one too. I'll be sure to keep an eye on that when I come to your site. I don't know how to get the url for them to let you know though. How do I do that? When I right clicked it didn't give me a way to get it for you...not that this one is bad..just thought I'd try and see if I could get it so I'd know how when I did need to get one for you.

Julie,
You could definitly make some extra cash because your blog's technorati authority rating is 30 (that means 30 other blogs link to yours). You probably have a lot of frequent readers which means frequent clickers of ads. I think others will be interested in the details of how this works, so I'm writing a post about it. Thanks for asking!

Sis. Julie said...

Wow....30 blog links? I had no idea. How did you find that out? I know I have a lot of frequent readers. I get daily reports of traffic on my site in my email. I've been shocked at the number of site views and page views. God has truly blessed my site and for that I am thankful. Thank you for being a blessing and for your help.

Bro David Scott,

I would like to know how I find out how many blogs link to mine, how do you do that?

Thanks, Jessica

Jessica said...

Oh, I also love the video introduction!! LOL!! Too funny.

David said...

Jessica,
There are a couple of ways and none of them is very accurate because they depend on the blogs being registered with that site. One way is to do a google search with the link operator. It should look like this:

link: http://youngfundamentalists.blogspot.com.

Doing a search like this will show you how many external links to your site Google is aware of. Technorati is like the blog database and has info on the most popular subjects, videos, etc. If you sign up and register your blog (it's free) they will give you an authority rating, which is how many other blogs link to yours. Again, it will only reflect blogs that are also registered with Technorati so it may not be completely accurate. That is one of the biggest blog sites, but there are others as well.
