What’s Wrong With The Sinner’s Prayer?

My response to Bill The Reasoner who does not like the sinner's prayer: "Bill, I've read some of your comments about the "Sinner's Prayer", and I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. I agree that it is not a prayer that saves us, rather it is our willingness to repent and put our faith in Christ. However, the Bible says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." I'm not sure how you can call upon the name of the Lord without actually talking to Him, which would be commonly referred to as a prayer. Being that it is coming from a sinner, where's the problem?"

I have left a new posting (I should say re-published) which addresses this issue on billthereasoner.blogspot.com

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

If you read this comment- The thief still had to CALL on Jesus. remember me in paradise or something like that. I couldn't find the exact verse, sorry. But still he had to speak to Jesus. That's what prayer is, right? Also, i can't post comments on your blog because I'm not a registered blogger. If you will, could you change that so I could?

Jordan,
You can sign up and create a username and password without actually publishing a blog. Just a thought.

I'll see if I could do that. Thank you!

Hi Jordan,
I will continue to disallow unregistered users to post comments. I apologize for the inconvenience.

By the way, the verse you are looking for is Luke 23:44. Please read and study and get back to me.

Your servant,
Bill
