Don't Stay Knocked Down

Sometimes you have just enough time to get the ball in the air before you get hit, and sometimes you just get sacked. Either way, you're down, in pain, and wondering why in the world you subject yourself to this kind of suffering.

Whether in sports or in life, we all have ups and downs, and it's how we handle getting tackled that defines what kind of person we really are. The next time you get hit by the devil, take it to the Lord. Don't try to carry the burden yourself because it's too great. God didn't design you to handle all of life's problems on your own. If He had He wouldn't have sent His Holy Spirit to help us. Secondly, get back up. When you're down, the best that can happen is you get stepped on. When you get beat, stand back up and go at it again. Remember, Prov.24 [16] For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Bro. Scott,

dave,

This is a great question, and I would recommend you proceed with caution. Google Adsene (the links you see) are the easiest to implement, but won't make you much money unless you are getting a couple thousand hits per day (they will count it for you). I only get a couple hundred hits per day at this point, so a good day for me on Adsense is between $1.00 and $2.00 (although my highest day pulled in $12.00). Also, you constantly have to watch for inappropriate ads and make sure you screen them so they don't come back. The first couple of months where touch and go, but I don't get any bad ones now, so I think I've blocked all of them (nothing pornographic, but movie ads, dating sites, etc).

PayPerPost has been great, because I've gotten paid anywhere from $5.00 to $35.00 for posting. The most recent one (about VistaPrint postcards) paid $14.00. The downside is it takes over 30 days to get paid and readers don't like a lot of "commercials" on your blog so you have to limit yourself to maintain your blogs integrity. Also, I lost my Google pagerank shortly after I started, and I don't know if that was because of my domain name change or because of Google. I understand they don't like services such as PayPerPost and have read about others who lost their page rank as a result of using them, but I don't know how true this is or why Google would care. The reason PageRank is important is because it determines which opportunities you can take advantage of on PayPerPost. When I had a PR of 3, I could do some that paid $20 - $30, but now that my PR is 0, I'm happy to get one that pays over $10. As you can see, Google PR makes a big difference in your ability to monetize. Page rank is an ellusive animal and there are sites devoted to techniques of boosting it, but it comes down to how many other similar sites link to yours, and what their page rank is. Google figures if quality sites are linking to yours, it must be quality too. If only a few no-names link to yours, you must be a no-name too. Brutal, but honest right?

Anyway, hope this has been food for thought. It looks like you've become very active in the blogging community, so I would suggest reading skelliewag.org, which is a blog devoted to answering questions such as these. It is written by a professional blogger who has over 3,000 subscribers. Another favorite of mine is problogger.net. Both of these have been instrumental in helping me navigate this "new world". Have fun!

Bro. David,

Thank You! I think about trying PayPerPost first. I was wondering how do you get pay? Do you think I can get set that the money will go right in to the missionay paypal?

Dave

You do get paid via PayPal, however I'm not sure that you could have it go directly to the missionary. You may have to have it come to you, then transfer it.

Dave, I don't know if English is your second language or if you just struggle with spelling and grammer, but there is an approval process that the posts have to go through, and I don't think the advertisers will pay for a post with poor grammer and spelling. I hope you don't take offense as I'm simply trying to help you.

I hope this works out for you!

No problem bro. I'm glad you can accept constructive criticism. I've found that most Junior Colleges offer short classes online for a very reasonable rate, and you can take "Business English" or something to that effect in your spare time. If you have the time, it might be worth looking into
