I preached tonight to the teenagers and my message was called, "Do You Live in Sodom?" I drew parallels from Lot's life, and how it's easy for Christians to set their eyes on the world and become ineffective for Christ.
I think often God uses the opportunities I get to preach to give me something I need. I probably came away from that message more convicted than any of the teenagers did. Funny how that works...

I hope you do not quit the blog, reason is that my boys and daughter just got a blog. I told my boys that this blog would be a good one for them to read. It's a safe blog for my children to learn things.
Here is a link to their blog if you wish to drop by.

Wow, thanks! It's always good to be a role model! I hope I don't lead them astray! :) Sometimes my edges are a bit rough as I flash back to my military days, but I'm happy to help your kids. Let them know I'll answer any questions they may have!
I agree that some people can be ineffective for Christ but I think we risk being judgemental when we say we can see who is and who isn't being used by Christ. I think it's easy to put perameters around how we view God's work and it can keep us from His true works. I can watch someone outside of my own belief system doing something that I think is surely opposite of what God would do and then BAM, God uses it for His glory and I am humbled. My mind is limited to my experiences and understanding so for me to say I can tell when someone is beyond use because to me it seems they are so focused on the world would sound prideful (in my humble opinion). I agree. I hope my post didn't sound like I was saying that I knew who was or wasn't being used by God. I was just trying to make the point that it is possible to render yourself ineffective for His service by becoming too worldly. I can't say when that happens or who it has happened to, but I can see in the Bible that there were some God used mightily, and some He ignored. I think we are told this in Matt.5[13] "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."
